Custom Painted Kitchen Island

Hey friends!

I’ve been trying all week to set aside some time for this post. This kitchen island is like … whoa! Show stopping, jaw dropping GORGEOUS! It was jealous of all the love given to the cabinets and was crying out for “The Finishing Touch”!

Now, if you’ve followed me for long, you know faux finishing is my first love. I absolutely love being able to create a one of a kind finish I know will never be duplicated … even by own hands. Having a blank canvas to start with and creative freedom to play is always an added bonus! My client’s home {which is totally fabulous, btw} just underwent a major kitchen renovation. They wanted the island to be different; distinct and alluring, but still wanted it to compliment the cabinetry. Enter “Layers of Love” {you know what I’m talking about if you’ve snagged the ebook}.

I started out with this:

Custom Painted Kitchen IslandAfter staining all the trim and framed areas, I added my first coat of paint. I used Websters Chalk Paint Powder mixed with Benjamin Moore’s Weimaraner. It’s the PERFECT neutral and played perfectly with the flooring and gray tones on the walls and cabinets. I used a custom mixed white for layer number two then kissed the whole thing with a bit of distressing.

I used the same stain to accent, adding depth to the panels then cleared with my Custom Clear.

Custom Painted Kitchen IslandSooooo stinkin’ smooth!

I wish you could see it with your own eyeballs and put your hands all over it. Pictures just never justify the beauty!

I’m scheduling makeovers and offer private workshops on cabinet painting … let me know how I can help you create the kitchen of your dreams!

Smooches!
