If you’ve followed me for long, you know I am kinda passionate about my work! It’s not just about painting furniture for me. The real joy comes from the friends I make in the process. I’m always honored when people afford me the opportunity to become part of their home’s story. This piece brought me a few tears and a whole lotta joy!
It looked like this when it made it’s way into the shop.
Broken, scarred and in need of love. It’s condition had it held up in a garage but Michelle knew it still had life in it! The piece was hand crafted by her great, great, great grandfather and had been passed down to the men in the family for years. It became hers when her father passed and she was determined to put it to use! I knew from the moment she walked into the shop we would be friends!
She brought items from home for the color consult and with zero hesitation, she went with my first choice…Salsa Dancing! This is her first piece of orange furniture but I have a feeling she’ll own more!
I spent a whole day sanding and cleaning.
Another day was spent on repairs.
Then came the fun part! I used General Finishes Java Gel to refinish the top. The body was brought to life with a mixture of Websters Chalk Paint Powder and Benjamin Moore’s “Salsa Dancing”. I I kissed every imperfection with natural distressing, bringing each story to life! I used my Custom Clear to seal and protect.
I refreshed the inside of the drawers with Daddy Van’s All Natural Orange Oil Wax…that stuff amazes me every time!!
Notice the difference in these two pulls?
Michelle’s GGGGrandfather passed before he got the bottom one carved. Some would call that unfinished. I call it absolutely perfect!
