Upcycling rocks! Giving an unwanted item new life is so very rewarding! Seeing an item beyond it’s intended purpose can be a challenge though. I think some people are just naturally creative but I also believe it is a learned skill- once you have that “ah-hah” or “why didn’t I think of that” moment, you begin to look for like items and really think outside the box. That said, I thought I’d round up a few of my favorite storage/display upcycles and share them in one post…you know, a bit of inspiration overload!
Starting with headboards…
These are the easiest to find! Thrift stores and flea markets have them in abundance and most are alone, with the rest of the frame, making them dirt cheap! Simple tools are needed to cut the legs off and the hardware to hang the piece is inexpensive.
Given the thin dimensions of a headboard, they are perfect for hanging coats and accessories in narrow spaces You can see step by step instructions on how to do it by clicking on the image.
The process was pretty much the same for all the ones below. Rememeber, customizing is the fun
Headboards can also make for pretty display of pictures or jewelry!
The make for great shelves too!
This one is probably my all time favorites. I really regret selling it! Cosmetically, it was bruised and beaten which made it a steal at an estate sale.
Are those “Layers of Love” not DIVINE?
So? Did you get a few ideas? See things a little differently? That’s my hope, friend!
Create something beautiful!!
